Re: All Motas Eléctricas
aqui está a primeira superbike do dia.
um construtor de motas a gasolina que vai lançar um e-modelo. http://www.roehrmotorcycles.com/
not the eroehr
yesterday roehr announced the eroehr electric motorcycle series will be available spring 2010. the two electric models will be walter roehrich’s 4th roehr project and this one has a lot of potential to help the company accomplish their mission:
roehr motorcycles llc will become the premier builder of american made sports and racing motorcycles, passionately committed to producing beautifully designed high performance sport bikes made in the usa
since 1995, mr. roehrich and gurnee, illinois based roehr motorcycles have attempted to build a machine to compete with the modern sportbike. roehr’s angle has been combining passion, creative thinking and a little help from established engine builders to give enthusiasts something unique, fun and american.
walter roehrich
roehr’s first creation, a 500cc vtwin was based on 2 yz250 two stroke cylinders joined by a custom crank case. i’m sure the engine was amazing but it proved expensive to mass produce. the roehr rv 1000 had a 1000cc highland engine and most recently, the $49k supercharged v-roehr 1250sc was based on the harley vrod v4. each bike moved walter closer to his goal. everything roehr designed on his own was fantastic but the engine always seemed to be the weak link for one reason or another. in a nut shell, they were either too expensive, heavy or elusive.
with roehr’s move to electric, the power plant is the easy and inexpensive part. walter’s main intellectual property spend will be batteries and power / battery management engineering and he will pay the same price the rest of the world pays. a nice break for a guy who i assume has been paying a premium to license motor technology for the last 15 years.
roehr’s brilliant designs will now work on a level playing field that the shift to electric drive is providing. if you read cycle worlds review of the 1250sc in 2009 it is obvious the bar is set very high in the ice bike world. electric drive is not new but it is relatively new territory in motorcycle applications. there is much room for innovation in battery technology as well as the logic that controls the drive system. today’s heavy batteries have a limited supply of energy that needs to be used efficiently.
electric will probably not be a compromise for roehrich. all along roehr has set out to build a high performance bike that is fun to ride. with no gear box and seamless, instantaneous, highly tunable power electric has a lot potential to deliver in the fun department. it all makes the eroehr series look like a great next step for the company that has always taken a different approach to motorcycle power plants.
hit the jump to see a descripton of the two eroehr bikes and some of their specs.
roehr esuperbike
the esuperbike will be roehr’s team entry into the ttxgp race series. the bike will use top shelf suspension, brakes and running gear to give it the highest possible competitive edge. it will be available for purchase by the public for use for both the ttxgp and the rival fim epower race series. at an unconfirmed price of $30,000 usd this is $10k cheaper than the mavizen ttx02. it’s 10 kwh battery pack may be enough to get it around the isle of man’s 38 mile mountain circuit 1 time depending on how much demand the ac motor puts on it. if you remember the dual dc agni powered mavizen ttx02, it’s “snaefell” pack is 11 kwh and good for a claimed 40 miles. considering crp stuck with a 6 kwh pack in their ttxgp race bike it is hard not to wonder if walter wants to scale the mountain and jump some bridges. if not, at least his customers have the option.
specifications
price: ~ $30,000 (not confirmed by roehr)
motor: “state-of-the-art” ac induction
torque: 210 lb/ft
horsepower: 96 bhp
battery pack: high energy discharge, lithium iron phosphate
capacity: 10 kwh
top speed: n/a
roehr esupersport
the esupersport will be a less expensive entry point for electric sportbike enthusiasts. roehr’s focus on building machines that are fun to ride and the seamless power of electric drive should make for a great riding experience. the 6 kwh pack should be enough for 25 miles of race pace riding if you go by mavizen’s estimates for the ttx02.
specifications
price: ~ $15,000 ? (not confirmed by roehr)
motor: ac induction
torque: 105 lb/ft
horsepower: 48 bhp
battery pack: high energy discharge, lithium iron phosphate
capacity: 6 kwh
top speed: 100 mph?

Re: All Motas Eléctricas
bom, mas para quem não quiser espera e vê-las a rolar aqui vai um calendário interessante de corridas ve's!
fim e-power flexes wsbk and motogp muscle
fim e-power logo
answering a flurry of ttxgp announcements this week, the fim added two big venues to their e-power electric motorcycle race series. the four previously announced races are scheduled along side endurance events with a relatively small following. with yesterday’s additions we will see electrics race at assen during motogp round 7 and at imola during the world superbike round 12. these high profile races should bring a good deal of attention to the electric drive race platform and possibly some tv coverage. electric technology will be in front of the top riders and race teams of the world.
the isle of man tt helped put team agni on the map and gave them a nice spot in the motorcycle history books. as well respected as the tt is, it can’t touch the visibility and following of wsbk and motogp. this announcement could make e-power very attractive to teams who have not committed to ttxgp or have the funds for both. at this point the fim has not announced any confirmed race teams for the e-power series. however, there is no denying it is a great opportunity for teams looking to make a name for themselves in the world motorcycle race scene.

Re: All Motas Eléctricas
e esta voltra, estes tb vale a pena falar com eles!
voltra electric motorcycle concept
ironically, one of the features designers of electric motorcycles seem to have the hardest time getting away from is the gas tank. my hunch as to why is a motorcycle just looses too much of it’s identity as soon as you take away the tank. eventually our minds may learn to accept the tanks absence. until then dan anderson’s voltra electric motorcycle concept, with it’s trellis frame forming the skeleton of a gas tank lets our minds wander just far enough to be comfortable with the no tank look.
suspended on the end of the vestigial tank structure is a cafe racer inspired seat and tail section hinting at dan’s inspiration for the bike. this 4th year university of western sydney industrial design student has a deep rooted respect for the culture of ice motorcycles and their design. his father chris successfully raced norton manx in a classic race series in australia in the late 80’s and early 90’s and currently owns a commando and a few ducati’s. he was australian champion 3 times and state champion 6 or 7 times. dan’s personal bike is a ducati pantah 600 that he restored himself.
the striking aesthetics of the voltra bike speak for itself. combine the visual presentation with cool features like a removable instrument cluster that doubles as a key and records data for review after the ride and it would have the most vain of squids jumping at the chance to add it to their garage furnishings. however, the more you dig into the design the more you realize the beauty is more than skin deep.
earlier this year motoczysz unveiled an equally stunning carbon fiber framed e1pc that has the batteries attached to the side of the frame in 10 modular packs. dan took a quite a different approach. what appear to be side panels on the voltra are actually part of the carbon fibre monocoque frame. it is designed as a load bearing exoskeleton that has a hollow cavity inside to hold the batteries.
the ac induction electric motor resides in a cast housing that doubles as a pivot for the trellis swing arm. this design not only makes for a rigid connection between swingarm and frame, it provides a consistent chain tension through the travel of the rear swing arm.
the motor and lithium ion batteries are directed by a programmable control unit. the design translates to a 441 lb machine with 129 nm of torque and a top speed of 124 mph. all very realistic specs based on today’s technology, a further testament to dan’s thorough research. as with all electric vehicle designs weight and energy density of batteries will come down and specs will only get better.
be sure to have a look at the gallery below as there is a lot more information in the sketches and renderings. he includes ergonomics analysis for average, large and short riders, analysis of stressed members of the construction and a view of how the motor is fitted inside the swingarm pivot.
dan told me i have the most information of any site on the net so let me know if i missed any information contained in the pics. i’ll also mention dan is in his fourth year and looking for a motorcycle company to begin his career with and he is open to any form of propulsion. someone might want to snatch him up before he gets together with tom miceli and tony helmholdt and creates more competition in the market.

Re: All Motas Eléctricas
agora para o pessoal mais radical!
electric moto emax 72ds based on atk chassis
since ely schless stepped down from ceo to ctc we have not heard much from electric moto and their blade xt. they are back with a new website, a new ceo and a 72 volt, full size electric dirtbike. it sits on high spec tag/ wheels, ohlins suspension and an aluminum frame that is unmistakably cannondale atk.
electric moto ceo mitch lenard explains in a recent press release announcing the new website:
the site will be modified regularly to reflect the advancements in concept and design of our vehicles, and other products, as well as the widening range of joint venture partners with whom we expect to be working.
it appears one of these joint ventures is with frank white’s atk. atk has served the all american niche dirtbike market for many years and purchased the defunct cannondale ice dirtbikes after ‘dale failed at making a profit on the buggy but innovative reverse cylinder, under seat gas tank, high spec machines and went into bankruptcy.
atk and hyosung recently entered a joint venture to build and rebrand bikes to expand each others lineup so this partnership doesnot surprise me. select harley davidson dealers, without the blessing (or denial) from hd corporate, will sell the atk branded hyosung based machines.
the absence of an oil sight glass on the in the frame of the 72ds leads me to believe the bike pictured is a left over from the original cannondale x440s. i’ll hold off on speculation but i’m sure you mind is wandering as mine did.
this street legal emax 72ds is significant because when it reaches production it will be the first traditional mx spec electric dirt bike. it has 21? front wheel and a 19? rear on 13? of premium ohlins suspension travel while bikes from zero and quantya run smaller wheel sizes with significantly less suspension travel. this should translate to a greater ability to tackle rough terrain and many choices for tires. of course, this comes at a significant weight penalty. the emax 72ds has weighs 210 lbs compared to zero’s 156 pound mx machine. still the em bike is 40+ lbs lighter than a 250cc four stroke enduro dirt bike.
the emax delivers 40 nm of torque and 21 hp for a 60 mph top speed. motor details are not listed and the somewhat confusing, hard to find, non-linkable specifications popup cites a 3 hour range and 14 kw capacity. i am seeking clarification on this as capacity should be a kwh measure and 3 hour range is very high given today’s battery technology.
there is no production date listed for this impressive new electric dirtbike but the press release explains more details will be available shortly. electric moto also looks to be working on an electric bicycle, scooter, personal watercraft and an atv.
meanwhile i’ll be doing some research into the .01 per share emot. for the record i am not a shareholder but if this bike lives up to the standards of the atk chassis that may change soon.
full press release follows with a video interview of ely schless below:
electric moto corporation (pinksheets: emot), an industry leader in the development of emission-free, electrically powered vehicles, and associated green lifestyle accessories, announced today that its website www.electricmoto.com is live.
according to mitch leonard, the new ceo of electric moto: “the website will give us an ongoing locale for our customers and partners to monitor the rapidly developing world of our technology. the site will be modified regularly to reflect the advancements in concept and design of our vehicles, and other products, as well as the widening range of joint venture partners with whom we expect to be working. in addition, of course, it will give our shareholders a full and open view of the company at all times, and access to management as well.”
interested parties should look for upcoming announcements regarding the corporate structure and philosophy of emot.
electric moto corporation (emot) is a leading technology and lifestyle company dedicated to the development, production and distribution of zero emission vehicles and related products. electric moto’s 72 volt dual sport electric motorcycle (pictured fully on the website) will be the first in a line of state of the art vehicles and products that will change the way people think and feel about their modes of transportation, energy use, and the environment.

since ely schless stepped down from ceo to ctc we have not heard much from electric moto and their blade xt. they are back with a new website, a new ceo and a 72 volt, full size electric dirtbike. it sits on high spec tag/ wheels, ohlins suspension and an aluminum frame that is unmistakably cannondale atk.
electric moto ceo mitch lenard explains in a recent press release announcing the new website:
the site will be modified regularly to reflect the advancements in concept and design of our vehicles, and other products, as well as the widening range of joint venture partners with whom we expect to be working.
it appears one of these joint ventures is with frank white’s atk. atk has served the all american niche dirtbike market for many years and purchased the defunct cannondale ice dirtbikes after ‘dale failed at making a profit on the buggy but innovative reverse cylinder, under seat gas tank, high spec machines and went into bankruptcy.
atk and hyosung recently entered a joint venture to build and rebrand bikes to expand each others lineup so this partnership doesnot surprise me. select harley davidson dealers, without the blessing (or denial) from hd corporate, will sell the atk branded hyosung based machines.
the absence of an oil sight glass on the in the frame of the 72ds leads me to believe the bike pictured is a left over from the original cannondale x440s. i’ll hold off on speculation but i’m sure you mind is wandering as mine did.
this street legal emax 72ds is significant because when it reaches production it will be the first traditional mx spec electric dirt bike. it has 21? front wheel and a 19? rear on 13? of premium ohlins suspension travel while bikes from zero and quantya run smaller wheel sizes with significantly less suspension travel. this should translate to a greater ability to tackle rough terrain and many choices for tires. of course, this comes at a significant weight penalty. the emax 72ds has weighs 210 lbs compared to zero’s 156 pound mx machine. still the em bike is 40+ lbs lighter than a 250cc four stroke enduro dirt bike.
the emax delivers 40 nm of torque and 21 hp for a 60 mph top speed. motor details are not listed and the somewhat confusing, hard to find, non-linkable specifications popup cites a 3 hour range and 14 kw capacity. i am seeking clarification on this as capacity should be a kwh measure and 3 hour range is very high given today’s battery technology.
there is no production date listed for this impressive new electric dirtbike but the press release explains more details will be available shortly. electric moto also looks to be working on an electric bicycle, scooter, personal watercraft and an atv.
meanwhile i’ll be doing some research into the .01 per share emot. for the record i am not a shareholder but if this bike lives up to the standards of the atk chassis that may change soon.
full press release follows with a video interview of ely schless below:
electric moto corporation (pinksheets: emot), an industry leader in the development of emission-free, electrically powered vehicles, and associated green lifestyle accessories, announced today that its website www.electricmoto.com is live.
according to mitch leonard, the new ceo of electric moto: “the website will give us an ongoing locale for our customers and partners to monitor the rapidly developing world of our technology. the site will be modified regularly to reflect the advancements in concept and design of our vehicles, and other products, as well as the widening range of joint venture partners with whom we expect to be working. in addition, of course, it will give our shareholders a full and open view of the company at all times, and access to management as well.”
interested parties should look for upcoming announcements regarding the corporate structure and philosophy of emot.
electric moto corporation (emot) is a leading technology and lifestyle company dedicated to the development, production and distribution of zero emission vehicles and related products. electric moto’s 72 volt dual sport electric motorcycle (pictured fully on the website) will be the first in a line of state of the art vehicles and products that will change the way people think and feel about their modes of transportation, energy use, and the environment.

yamaha ec-003
back in october ‘09 yamaha displayed a few scooter concepts at the 2009 tokyo motor show. the x shaped ec-f and ec-fs were cool looking electric powered scooters but yamaha did not give a whole lot of information about them. their future is uncertain.
the third model was an updated version of the electric yamaha passol, a prototype that first debuted in 2002. the 2009 version is called the ec-03 and the video below describes the design philosophy as “light, smart, clean, silent”. kazuki takahashi, director of ev development department at yamaha also mentions the ec-03 is planned to be released this summer 2010.
the 99 pound, aluminum framed ec-03 is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that has a maximum output of .6 kw. yamaha’s 8 years of research into the electronics result in smooth acceleration and start-ups which they call yamaha motor control system. cool design features include a forward tilting seat for access to the lithium ion battery pack and an on-board charger.
check out the video after the break.
