Re: All Motas Eléctricas

Re: All Motas Eléctricas
2009 ride green eco enduro results
pictures and results have now surfaced for the fim ride green eco enduro was held last weekend in denmark and ran through feddett, moen and copenhagen. 39 riders including many big european names in offroad rode 10 stages that combines enduro in most and supermoto in the final. have a look at the pictures and video after the break to get an idea of the battery draining sand the riders and bikes had to deal with.
mcn has a short writeup of the results and a great quote from motorcross world champion joel smets.
smets said: “this is fantastic. i really believe in the possibilities of riding electric and i definitely want to come back next time!”
brian jorgensen had some interesting things to say about racing the quantya…

Re: All Motas Eléctricas
mais uns campeonatos de e-superbike
fim e-power flexes wsbk and motogp muscle
fim e-power logo
answering a flurry of ttxgp announcements this week, the fim added two big venues to their e-power electric motorcycle race series. the four previously announced races are scheduled along side endurance events with a relatively small following. with yesterday’s additions we will see electrics race at assen during motogp round 7 and at imola during the world superbike round 12. these high profile races should bring a good deal of attention to the electric drive race platform and possibly some tv coverage. electric technology will be in front of the top riders and race teams of the world.
the isle of man tt helped put team agni on the map and gave them a nice spot in the motorcycle history books. as well respected as the tt is, it can’t touch the visibility and following of wsbk and motogp. this announcement could make e-power very attractive to teams who have not committed to ttxgp or have the funds for both. at this point the fim has not announced any confirmed race teams for the e-power series. however, there is no denying it is a great opportunity for teams looking to make a name for themselves in the world motorcycle race scene.
full fim press release after the break.

Re: All Motas Eléctricas
stealth electric bomber, a two wheeled identity crisis
quick, what has two wheels, handlebars, a motor and goes over 40 mph?
a motorcycle – wrong!
sorry, that was not fair. i left out pedals and crank arms. so ok, now guess what it?
a moped – wrong again!
ok, enough with the semi-cleverish intro. i’m talking about electric mountain bikes. big travel downhill mtb’s with an electric motor, batteries, cranks and motorcycle like top speeds. why bother with pedals on a bicycle that does 50+ mph and weighs 100+ pounds?
find out why after the break.
fist off all that power can be hidden inside what looks exactly like a bicycle. if you are in an urban area a bicycle can be ridden on sidewalks, bike paths and on the street. in big cities it can also be locked to a bicycle rack when parking is at a premium. second you may get more exercise. i think offroad motorcycles are underrated in their physical strength requirements but theoretically you can get a better workout on a motorcycle with pedal assist. lastly, if you do run low on power you can pedal which lessens range anxiety. granted, you are gonna be feeling the burn when you get home.
stealth electric bikes bomber
the stealth bomber and stealth fighter by stealth electric bikes in melbourne, australia are “mountain bikes on steroids”. the 72 volt bomber uses a crystalyte x5 hub motor in the rear wheel and a 9 speed suntour v-boxx crank. the rst front suspension provides 9 inches of travel and the dnm rear almost 10 inches. most of the components are upgradeable through stealth. the all steal monocoque framed bike weights close to 130 lbs but it will do almost 50 mph without pedaling. have a look at the video below to see the stealth bomber doing hot laps to get an idea of how fast it moves. also be sure to read through potatoho’s first hand report of life with the stealth and how it compares to his zero x.
bottom line is the stealth bomber proves that an identity crisis can be a good thing. now what is this blog about again? aww whatever, let’s ride.

quantya snow bike prototype
http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/394/2289/ ... n-kit.aspx
quantya snow bike
quantya usa posted pics of a snow bike they are working on. details beyond the pictures are slim but it is basically a quantya mx with a snowmobile inspired track where the rear wheel would be and a ski where the front wheel usually sits.
the bike is being developed and tested in by quantya hq in switzerland. the rear track provides great flotation and traction in all snow conditions but saps a good amount of power. over the next 6 months quantya is experimenting with different battery and motor power combination’s to find the best mix of performance and battery life. i would also guess they might be researching how to keep the batteries warm or resistant to voltage drops as cold temperatures have a negative effect on a packs charge.
if all goes well we may see this model available to the public. if you can’t wait that long you can always find a motorcycle snow track kit and build one yourself. if you do please post up some pics!

Re: All Motas Eléctricas
impressionante!
epo-bike first confirmed fim epower entry
christian amendt, an engineering student out of germany is the first confirmed entrant of the epower electric motorcycle race series. using what might be called a quantified version of lotus’s “performance through low weight” philosophy, christian converted a honda rs125r to electric using a “half the weight, half the power” design.
the 115 kg (253.5 lb) electric race bike weighs 187 lbs less than the triple motor motoczysz e1pc. the theory is light weight will allow the 96 volt, single motor, 3 kwh epo-bike to out perform a 2 or 3 motor bike that weighs over 400 lbs with the batteries needed to power them. the epo-bike uses a lemco d135 (predecessor of agni 95) dc motor, lifepo4 batteries from an undisclosed manufacturer and an alltrax ax7425 controller to achieve 74nm of torque and reach a top speed of about 111 mph.
like most of the “exclusive” ttxgp entries, it does not seem amendt has anything against the competing series. the fim epower series is merely more convenient given his location and time constraints. this is a step in the right direction for epower who has seen ttxgp gain a hand full of entrants over the last few weeks. fim will run epower races on wsbk and motogp race weekends which should have a strong draw for race teams looking for visibility in the up and coming electric race scene.

epo-bike first confirmed fim epower entry
christian amendt, an engineering student out of germany is the first confirmed entrant of the epower electric motorcycle race series. using what might be called a quantified version of lotus’s “performance through low weight” philosophy, christian converted a honda rs125r to electric using a “half the weight, half the power” design.
the 115 kg (253.5 lb) electric race bike weighs 187 lbs less than the triple motor motoczysz e1pc. the theory is light weight will allow the 96 volt, single motor, 3 kwh epo-bike to out perform a 2 or 3 motor bike that weighs over 400 lbs with the batteries needed to power them. the epo-bike uses a lemco d135 (predecessor of agni 95) dc motor, lifepo4 batteries from an undisclosed manufacturer and an alltrax ax7425 controller to achieve 74nm of torque and reach a top speed of about 111 mph.

Re: All Motas Eléctricas

Re: All Motas Eléctricas
